Upper East Side Church - ADA Accessibility Study

This feasibility study examines accessibility improvements to an existing institutional building on the Upper East Side — an active religious congregation occupying a 1951 structure that currently lacks an accessible restroom and vertical circulation.

The study evaluates the building's existing conditions against current ADA requirements and New York City Building Code, identifying the constraints and opportunities specific to this structure: existing floor levels, structural bays, egress paths, and the relationship between the auditorium, ancillary spaces, and street level.

Options under consideration include an accessible restroom addition and a new passenger elevator. The study will assess each option's technical feasibility, approximate cost range, and compatibility with the existing building's fabric — giving the congregation the information they need to make an informed decision about scope and investment before design begins.

Feasibility study in progress.
